What to expect in new SPAWN movie?

It's been a long time since the Spawn fad of 1997 and it's satanic explosion featuring the first super hero from Hell's big screen debut. Back then it was a miracle to even get a PG-13 adaption but due to the success of dark R rated features such as Deadpool and Logan, the time feels right.

(Comic book creator) McFarlane elaborates:

"We're getting a second movie. And it's not gonna be a continuation, it's not gonna be a sequel, it's not gonna be any of that. Scrap the first movie it was twenty years ago. It's gonna be a dark, R-rated, scary, bad-ass sort of script that's tight. And it's not a nice, polite, PG-13 with ray guns and and headquarters.... You're never going to see a dude in a rubber suit....This is going to be my Jaws shark."

Hold on there, by Jaws shark does that not only mean something terrifying but involving practical effects? No rubber suit, no ray guns..., how much of a reality check is this thing going to cash?

During a recent interview on 'Greeking Out' via comicbook.com, he continues to hint that "Gone are the super villains and dastardly plots.'

Instead I imagine its going to be a lot like the beginning of the old HBO special, where a supernatural entity (Spawn) lurks about in the alley ways dealing with a community of homeless bums. It's going to be a monster flick based on solid ground, nothing fanatical but the exception of the main character's existence.

So what's to be excited about? The golden promise has been given, this next movie will better follow the source material than the original campy film. We're talking comic books  known for graphic, unrelenting content and overwhelming levels of grit.

So less of flashy monsters and troll haired looking demon lords,

and more grizzly violence and story driven horror.

Keep watch of MovieDemon, we're definitely following this resurrection.
